Drought Impact Survey for Cow-Calf Producers

August 23, 2012

Dear Cow-calf Producer,

Thank you to those that have already submitted a response.  We’ve gotten a number of responses but need more to get as representative of a picture of the industry across the state as possible.  Also, please revisit the site http://srmec.uark.edu/beef to make sure you’ve completed the survey.

Finally, you may also get another invitation (other than the one from the Department of Animal Science) to complete the survey as we’ve asked the Arkansas Agriculture Department to also send out an invitation to take the survey on our behalf.  Please ignore if you’ve already filled in the survey.  We’re not able to track your responses and so have no way of filtering out e-mails that have already completed the survey.

I appreciate your time and effort spent on this survey. The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Division of Agriculture, University of Arkansas wants to assess the impact of 2012’s drought on cow-calf operations.  To be able to report on drought impact we need some numbers to compare the last twelve months to a more typical year — a 3- year average prior to the last 12 months.  Please answer the questions in the survey as they relate to your cow-calf enterprise (do not include numbers for backgrounding or finishing operations).  We appreciate your time and effort.  It should take about 15 minutes to complete.

For survey questions, please contact Michael Popp at mpopp@uark.edu, 479-575-6838
For respondent rights, Ro Windwalker (irb@uark.edu), 479-575-2208, IRB #: 12-08-033
